REGISTRATION

High School 2023-24 Winter Program

 

During the winter season, HMHS rowers build strength, endurance, flexibility, and resilience, along with teamwork and leadership skills. Rowers will also compete in indoor rowing competitions in February and/or early March. New this year: A first-ever partnership with Haduko Academy on Tanner Ave.

 

What is the Winter Crew program?

Athletes will train 6 days per week under the guidance of the HCC coaching staff and Haduko trainers and yoga instructors. This year’s program will feature new, exciting additions: programming from Haduko's strength and conditioning trainers; yoga for athletes, to cultivate better flexibility, mental clarity, and general wellness; a a session with a sports nutritionist. 

 

Can anyone sign-up?

The winter program is open to all 9th – 12th graders at HMHS, regardless of prior experience with rowing. For those who play a spring sport other than rowing, winter crew is a great opportunity to learn rowing technique, build strength and endurance, and create bonds with new friends. The winter program also provides opportunities for team-building activities that will foster teamwork, camaraderie, and community.

 

Schedule:

  • Start date: Monday, December 4th

  • Location: Haduko 21 Tanner St, Haddonfield

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (Erging) 3:30 - 5:15

  • Tuesday/Thursday (Strength & Conditioning & Yoga) 3:30 - 5:15

  • Saturday (Erging) 7:00-8:45am

  • All practices are mandatory

 

Haddonfield Crew Club Dues for Winter 2023-2024

  • Returning Fall 2023 Novice & Varsity rowers: Check - $350/Paypal $361

  • New rowers* (who have not rowed in HS before): Check - $500/Paypal - $516

*New rowers who continue to the spring season will receive a $150 discount on their spring dues.

 

 

Middle School Program

 

Check back in March for registration for the Middle School (6th - 8th grade) Spring Learn to Row program!

ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGH SCHOOL ROWERS ONLY

 

The Haddonfield High School Crew team requires registration through both the club and the school. Don't forget to:

  1. Fill out the HCC Registration form above

  2. Submit payment via check or Paypal

  3. Register with the school through Genesis

  4. Ensure that your child's HMHS required medical forms have been submitted to the school's nurse's office.

 

Rowers must be cleared for eligibility by the school nurse/Athletics dept. BEFORE they are permitted to practice. Fall, Winter, or Spring Crew can be used toward HMHS P.E. credit. Rowers should request the appropriate form from their school counselor.

 

What to ExpeCT

high school Fall seasoN

(September - November)

For high school rowers, on-the-water practices and erg training sessions take place Monday through Friday after school and Saturday mornings at the Cooper River Boathouse. Practice times will vary based on the team, but will be shared prior to the start of the fall program. Rowers must arrange their own transportation to & from the river; carpooling is encouraged. Fall regattas begin in late September for returning rowers. Novice (first year) rowers typically do not compete in a formal regatta until late in the season; they spend September and October honing the basics and learning to work together as a crew.

high school Winter seasoN

(late november - February)

 

Athletes train 6 days per week (Monday through Saturday) using ergs (rowing machines), weights, and other equipment under the guidance of the HCC coaching staff and additional fitness experts. This year’s program will feature two new, exciting additions: programming with strength & conditioning trainers, a nutritionist, and yoga for athletes, to cultivate better flexibility, mental clarity, and general wellness. Rowers will also have the opportunity to compete in indoor rowing competitions.

high school spring seasoN

(March - May)

Practices take place Monday through Friday after school and Saturday mornings at the Cooper River Boathouse. Practice times will vary based on the team, but will be shared prior to the start of the fall program. Rowers must arrange their own transportation to & from the river; carpooling is encouraged. Spring regattas begin in March and run through May and are typically on Sundays. Bussing is provided for athletes to and from regattas.

MIDDLE SCHOOL Crew 

Fall & Spring seasonS

New rowers will learn the basics of rowing from the experienced coaching staff of Haddonfield Crew Club. Rowers should wear athletic wear (e.g., t-shirt, shorts, tank top, etc. Rowers should wear appropriate running shoes sneakers for a warm-up run. They should report at least 10 minutes before practice time to the area behind the Camden County Boathouse (the side that faces the river). Parents/guardians may park on either side of the boathouse or on the street for drop off and pickup.
