high school Fall seasoN

(September - November)

For high school rowers, on-the-water practices and erg training sessions take place Monday through Friday after school and Saturday mornings at the Cooper River Boathouse. Practice times will vary based on the team, but will be shared prior to the start of the fall program. Rowers must arrange their own transportation to & from the river; carpooling is encouraged. Fall regattas begin in late September for returning rowers. Novice (first year) rowers typically do not compete in a formal regatta until late in the season; they spend September and October honing the basics and learning to work together as a crew.

Athletes train 6 days per week (Monday through Saturday) using ergs (rowing machines), weights, and other equipment under the guidance of the HCC coaching staff and additional fitness experts. This year’s program will feature two new, exciting additions: programming with strength & conditioning trainers, a nutritionist, and yoga for athletes, to cultivate better flexibility, mental clarity, and general wellness.
